Travel Stories
Many of our members have experiences that could be beneficial, or just plain funny, to other members and would like to share. These travel stories don’t have to be submitted on a monthly basis. This section is often suited to one-off contributions or a very mobile traveller.
In some respects, travel stories combine the travel guide’s informative qualities with the personal experiences of a travelogue. The travel story also stands on its own, in that it can be the most individual of all content types, without the more-defined characteristics of guides and travelogues.
As a result, story-specific rules are few and simple:
- Title. Every story needs a title, so please provide one. Untitled stories are like unnamed children.
- Photos are welcome and encouraged.
- Length. We prefer stories that are under 2,500 words in length. If you have a longer story, or a more extensive work such as a journal from a long trip, it may be more suited to be a blog. BootsnAll handles these longer works on a case-by-case basis, so please email us so that our editors can see what might be worked out. We do not, however, publish book-length works.
- Geography. Travel stories are grouped by continent and region, so your story needs to have to do with a particular place. If your story is more generally, not geographically travel-related, no worries: hop to our Traveller’s Toolkit page and see how it could fit there.
Pretty simple, no? So go ahead and submit your story.
